Multi-color LED products

Multi-color led as it name implies means single through-hole led can emit 2 colors or even more. Usually they are bi-color led, tri-color led, and RGB led.
Bi-color LEDs are actually two different LEDs in one package. It consists of two dies connected to the same two leads but in opposite directions. One led die can be lit at one time. Current flow in one direction produces one color, and current in the opposite direction produces the other color. But if both colors are lit in proper frequency, there will be a blended third color.
Tri-color LED is two LEDs in one case too, but the two LEDs are connected to separate leads. There are two leads control two colors respectively, and the third lead is the common anode or cathode lead. Having three leads is the most obvious difference of tri-color led from bi-color led.
A RGB LED has red, green and blue dies inside, generally using a four-wire connection with one common anode or cathode lead.
