| The US Department of Energy (DOE) has released a call to DOE and federal laboratories for research on solid-state lighting (SSL) core technologies. Proposals are due in April 17.
The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Building Technologies Program, is seeking applications from all DOE National Laboratories, National Science Research Centers, Department of Defense Laboratories or any other federal laboratory for applied research in the SSL Core Technology Research program area. Core technology research focuses on applied research needed to advance SSL technologies, providing problem-solving knowledge and data needed to overcome barriers identified in the “Program Areas of Interest” section of the research call. Approximately $2 million dollars per year are expected to be available for new awards under this research call, funded over multiple government fiscal years. DOE anticipates making approximately 2-6 awards this fiscal year under this research call. For industry, universities, and other interested research organizations, DOE expects to release funding opportunities for Round 6 Core Technology Research and Product Development this spring.
